
About Insignia Homes was founded in 1996 by Joel Peterson, who was joined in 2002 by Dave Morren. Since its inception, Insignia Homes' mission has been to serve our clients with the highest quality custom homes and renovations combined with unparalleled customer service. We accomplish our mission by combining the "art" of custom home building with the "science" of a strong organization to back it up. We team up with the most talented interior designers and architects in West Michigan to achieve the "art" of your project. We rely on strong management and skilled craftsmen in the field as well as talented people in the office to produce the "science". As we have grown over the years, this tradition is now carried on by not only Dave and Joel and the many trim carpenters, jobs managers and office personnel, but all of the sub-contractors in the Insignia Homes family. Joel Peterson - General Contractor

Joel is a Cascade native who graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Economics Degree. After college, Joel started and operated several small businesses before entering the construction industry. The first homes Joel worked on were older properties that were renovated then sold again. This experience infected him with the building bug and a passion for renovation. It was 1996 when Joel found that the home building industry was where he wanted to make his contribution. Seeing a need in the area at the time for higher end homes, Joel founded Insignia Homes. Joel quickly realized the importance a aligning himself with the best sub-contractors in order to deliver the highest level of product and service to the client.

While the company has grown from a one man show to a multifaceted custom home builder, Joel's family has grown as well. Joel and his wife Kris have three children and reside in East Grand Rapids.

Dave Morren - BuildeR

Dave is a life long Gaines Township native who graduated from Hope College with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Dave was a captain for the only undefeated Flying Dutchman Football team in history. He then earned a Masters in Business Administration from Western Michigan University while working full time.

Dave started out his career working for the public accounting firm Plante & Moran. He then went on to work for a Hotel and Restaurant company which was a client of the firm in the middle of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Dave was a member of the executive team which took the Company out of bankruptcy and restored the business to profitability. He then decided to take on a new challenge and took a position with a local custom home builder. It was there that Dave learned the business from the ground up.

Dave and his wife, Laurie, are busy with their five children and their many school and Church activities. Dave believes it is critical to give back to others and the community and has served as the President of his Church Council, as well as Chairman of the Kent County Board of Commissioners.
